Ted Brumberg General Tim, this car was purchased by 2 members of the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in North Judson, IN. It was built in 1910 by Pullman as a 84 seat coach for the Western Pacific, 1 of 51 such cars ordered by the Denver & Rio Grande, which financed the construction of the WP. These cars were built between July and October of that year, and initially 40 of the 51 cars were leased to the WP as #301-#340, and the other 11 cars were owned by D&RG as #888-#898. After several years, 25 of the WP cars were transferred back to the D&RG, all renumbered by August 25th, 1918. The remaining 15 cars were transferred back to the D&RG between November 1923 and January 1924. The renumbering from WP to D&RG was not consecutive, with the 40 cars renumbered from #899 to #950. The other 11 cars were eventually renumbered into this range. At least 3 of the 40 cars formerly leased to WP were renumbered a 2nd time within this range. Most of these cars later had A/C installed, and those which didn't were 9/15/2015 3:59:33 AM
Ted Brumberg General Most of these cars later had A/C installed, and those which didn't were sold to the Algoma Central, including this car. The original WP number was #302, and it was next D&RG #899, then renumbered a 2nd time to #930, then sold to Algoma Central as #407, then sold to the Boyne Valley RR (same #), then sold to the Michigan Northern RY (same #), then sold to the Kalamazoo, Lake Shore & Chicago, then acquired by the current owners from KLS&C successor Pioneer RR.
